MBio Diagnostics, Inc. Rapid Detection Platform Validated In Independent Study

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwired - March 16, 2015) - MBio Diagnostics, Inc., a company leading a new era in rapid, on-the-spot clinical diagnostics and sample testing, announced today the publication of a study demonstrating the speed, utility and multiplexing capabilities of the company's MBio Array System in detecting antibiotic residue in raw milk. The study was published online in Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, titled "Development of a rapid multiplexed assay for the direct screening of antimicrobial residues in raw milk." The study was conducted at the Institute for Global Food Security, Queen's University Belfast, in conjunction with Neogen Corporation, which provided various reagents used in the assay.

The paper describes the simultaneous testing for three antibiotics in raw milk in only 5 minutes, without need for sample preparation. The study demonstrated excellent sensitivity, low variability, and good linear range. Notably, the three antibiotics chosen were from three separate antibiotic chemical families, a unique achievement for a rapid, on-site test format.

"A portable, on-site screening test that can produce results within minutes can fundamentally change workflows and speed up validation processes in multiple industrial testing environments," commented Dr. Chris Myatt, MBio's CEO. "In addition, the ability to test multiple targets together improves efficiency and ultimately lowers cost."

"This collaboration has clearly demonstrated the robustness of the MBio platform, where partners have independently developed and validated a unique new test in real world applications," added MBio VP and CTO Michael J. Lochhead.
