LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - September 16, 2013) -

Matrix Science today introduced Mascot Insight, a powerful software platform for organizing, visualizing, and comparing proteomics data sets derived from mass spectrometry results. Leveraging the Mascot Server search engine for protein identification, Mascot Insight enables meaningful conclusions to be drawn about changes within or between biological samples. The platform will address the needs of researchers in academia and biopharmaceutical companies with goals ranging from elucidation of cellular processes to biomarker discovery and validation.

"One of the great challenges in proteomics research is the very large amount of data generated by modern mass spectrometers, with a single experiment creating hundreds of gigabytes of raw data," stated John Cottrell of Matrix Science. "Mascot Insight can capture the associated Mascot search and quantitation results, organize them, and then allow the researcher to rapidly analyse and query them -- ultimately speeding the discovery and development process."

Results can be represented in a folder structure designed by the user. Results and sets of results can be annotated, combined, then viewed as tabular and graphical reports, and exported in machine readable formats. The software is user installed on a server running 64-bit Microsoft Windows and is accessed from other computers on the local area network using a web browser.
