Materialise NV Expands Its Collaboration With Consensus Orthopedics To Include ACO Hip Guides

LEUVEN, Belgium, July 7, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Materialise NV (Nasdaq:MTLS), a leading provider of 3D software and sophisticated 3D printing solutions, and pioneer in medical image based guide technology, today announced that Consensus Orthopedics Inc. will use its Acetabular Cup Orientation (ACO) Hip Guide System.

The Materialise ACO Hip Guide System, a platform consisting of easy-to-use 3D surgical planning software and patient-specific surgical guides for hip surgery, allows surgeons to predictably plan hip surgeries based on the patient's unique anatomy and structural damage. Based on that pre-operative plan, patient-specific guides are designed and 3D printed for use during surgery. This platform will now be joined by Consensus Orthopedics.

Jeroen Dille, Director of Materialise's Clinical Unit, states: "Just one month after announcing our first contract with Consensus Orthopedics to use our Knee Guide System, we are excited to announce another collaboration agreement, this time with regard to the ACO Hip Guide System. Through this growing partnership, more surgeons will have access to 3D planning and printing solutions, which ultimately means that more patients can benefit from this technology. Since the start of Materialise 25 years ago, our mission has been to create meaningful 3D printing applications for a better and healthier world. This partnership is perfectly in line with that mission statement."

Colleen Gray, President and CEO of Consensus declares: "Materialise is providing Consensus with yet another unique product. Surgical outcomes have a higher rate of predictability once our surgeons have access to pre-operative planning and are able to use patient-specific guides based on a patient's CT. Consensus is delighted to see this partnership with Materialise grow and to continue delivering innovative solutions for the orthopedics industry."

Materialise has 25 years of experience in 3D planning and printing for medical applications, which includes the development of dedicated 3D visualization and planning software, engineering and design services and the production of 3D printed patient-specific guides and implants.
