Major Cancer Research Breakthrough Made In University of Hawaii

It took a lot of hard work, patience and time for Dr. Michele Carbone and his team of researchers at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center to reach this milestone. β€œ14.5 years, at times I thought we would never get it! To find the gene is not easy because we have many genes,” said Dr. Carbone. The gene is called BAP 1. β€œAnd when this mutated, people who have this mutation have a very high risk of developing certain cancers.”
