EAST MILLSTONE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Life Sciences Research, Inc. (NYSE Arca: LSR) announced today revenues and earnings for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009. Revenues for the first quarter were $48.0 million, 24.0% below revenues of $63.2 million for the first quarter of 2008. Excluding the effect of currency exchange, revenues decreased 2.6%. Operating income for the 2009 first quarter was $5.9 million, or 12.3% of revenues, compared with $9.7 million, or 15.3% of revenues for the same period in the prior year. The quarter included stock based expenses of $0.3 million, or $0.02 per fully diluted share, compared with $0.5 million, or $0.03 per fully diluted share in the same quarter last year. The Company reported a net income for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 of $3.7 million or $0.25 per fully diluted share, compared with a net income of $6.7 million or $0.44 per fully diluted share for the quarter ended March 31, 2008.
