Joshua Nemzoff Launches StoneBridge Healthcare, LLC

NEW HOPE, Pa., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Hospital industry veteran Joshua Nemzoff today announced the creation of StoneBridge Healthcare, LLC, a hospital company that will partner with physicians to purchase and operate full service acute care hospitals across the United States.

"StoneBridge Healthcare offers physicians the opportunity to take center stage in the decisions about how patient care is delivered to their patients," said Nemzoff, president of Nemzoff & Company, one of the nation's leading experts in the area of hospital mergers and acquisitions.

"StoneBridge Healthcare will offer patients a hospital experience that has been completely designed by their own doctors for them and their families. It's the way healthcare ought to work."

The name StoneBridge reflects the goals of the company -- to bridge the gap between the hospital and the patient. With the help of physician partners, the company will create a hospital with an accessible, patient- centered environment -- designed specifically by doctors for their patients. StoneBridge hospitals will be known for clinical excellence and a superior patient experience.

"The StoneBridge Healthcare model for operating hospitals is specifically designed to put physicians at the center of the decision process as to how patients will be treated, and at the same time to allow the professionals who know how to run the business side of the organization to do their jobs," said Nemzoff, founder of StoneBridge and the company's chief executive officer.

"It is a structure that is representative of a growing movement in the healthcare industry to return physicians to a position of authority in the design and delivery of clinical care."

Mr. Nemzoff has been involved in more than 175 merger and acquisition engagements and is regarded as one of the nation's leading hospital merger and acquisition experts. He has served as the project director and lead negotiator for more than $7 billion of healthcare merger and acquisition transactions.

The business model behind StoneBridge Healthcare is the "whole hospital joint venture" in which local physicians are able to invest their resources and their experience in a full-service hospital where they will play a key role in the design of the clinical care and the facility's overall operation. There are more than 25 whole hospital joint ventures that have been completed in the U.S.

"This is a proven model for hospital success," Nemzoff said. "In fact, it's a return to a century old era when physicians in cities across the country founded and operated hospitals to care for their patients."

As the industry evolved, physician owners were replaced by hospital companies and outside managers. In many cases, this has led to the creation of a gap that separates physicians and their patients.

"StoneBridge offers physicians the opportunity to bridge that gap," Nemzoff said. "We expect it to be a very popular solution for physicians in markets across the U.S."

The new company is exploring opportunities with physicians in selected markets across the U.S., Nemzoff said, and looking for new opportunities as well.
