Johnson & Johnson Sued by Parents Who Claim Tylenol Killed Their Toddler

Johnson & Johnson and its Fort Washington-based McNeil Consumer Healthcare unit have been sued by a family who says their 2-year-old son died from liver failure in 2010 after taking Children's Tylenol, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

A Philadelphia attorney, Joseph Messa, is representing the family from the Seattle area.

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) has been plagued by recalls, including many related to its Fort Washington McNeil plant, which has been shut down for renovations. But the company said "that while it empathized with the [family], it disagreed with the lawsuit's contention that the company was hiding its product problems," the Inquirer said. A statement by Johnson & Johnson also says the recalls, which have included Children's Tylenol, Motrin and other products, "were not related to serious adverse events, as alleged in this suit."
