Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) Recalls Nearly 54,000 Packages of Imodium

5/18/2012 6:44:53 AM

In the latest recall in what has been a "troubling trend," the Philadelphia Inquirer says, Johnson & Johnson's Fort Washington, Pa.-based McNeil unit has recalled about 50,000 Imodium packages because of possible torn packaging.

The Imodium Multi-Symptom Relief was produced at McNeil's Lancaster, Pa., plant. The company's Fort Washington plant has been closed for upgrades after several recalls and is not expected to reopen until next year, the Inquirer said.

"A company [NYSE:JNJ] spokeswoman said McNeil has no safety concerns about the products in torn packages, but having been exposed to air, the medicine might not provide the intended benefits," said the report, which provides the lot number of the recalled batch (CMF023) and a phone number for consumers to call for a refund (1-888-222-6036 ).
