Johnson and Johnson could be sourcing commercial quantities of poppies outside Tasmania in 2015. That's the view of its US-based Worldwide Narcotics Franchise general manager, Matthew Martin. Mr Martin was in Tasmania to present its subsidiary, Tasmanian Alkaloids' grower awards, and meet with farmers, members of the company and government representatives. Matthew Martin told 400 guests at the Tasmanian Alkaloids award function that Johnson & Johnson is continuing to invest in Tasmania as part of its strategy. Matthew Martin says demand for the company's alkaloid-based products is growing at between 3 and 4 per cent a year in the US and it's also expanding in Europe.
