Jeffrey A. Komatz Named Chief Financial Officer of Protein Discovery, Inc.

KNOXVILLE, TN--(Marketwire - February 26, 2009) - Protein Discovery, Inc., a privately held life sciences company, today announced that it has hired Jeffrey A. Komatz for the position of chief financial officer. Mr. Komatz will be responsible for ensuring the continued financial health of Protein Discovery.

As the CFO, Mr. Komatz will plan and manage the company's financial and accounting activities, and will communicate information about them to the board of directors and others. Among his executive duties will be strategic, operational and tax planning; budget setting; pricing and profitability; financing; banking arrangements; financial statements; operational audits; compensation; leases and contracts; and cash flow forecasting and management.

Mr. Komatz will report directly to Chuck Witkowski, II, president and chief executive officer of Protein Discovery.

Before joining Protein Discovery, Jeffrey Komatz was corporate controller at RTI Biologics, Inc., and vice president and corporate controller at Tutogen Medical, Inc. (RTI purchased Tutogen in February 2008). Both companies produce medical devices that process human and animal tissues, used primarily for products in sports medicine, dental and in other markets. Mr. Komatz is a certified public accountant, and he holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration (accounting) from Ohio State University.
