India's Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. To Buy Pfizer Inc. (PFE) German Generics Unit Heumann Pharma

BOMBAY/FRANKFURT, June 27 (Reuters) - Indian drug maker Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (TORP.BO: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it had agreed to buy Pfizer Inc.'s (PFE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) German generics unit, Heumann Pharma GmbH & Co. Generica KG, to strengthen its presence overseas.
Torrent, based in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad, did not disclose the transaction size and said the acquisition did not include Heumann's manufacturing facilities, which will be retained by another Pfizer subsidiary, Heumann PCS GmbH.
