MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 30, 2013 -- /PRNewswire/ -- Today, iHealth Lab Inc. announced the availability of its FDA-approved Wireless Smart Gluco-Monitoring System. The new iHealth device is the market's first, highly portable Bluetooth-enabled blood glucose monitor. The device makes it easy for people to regularly monitor their blood glucose levels and for caregivers, loved ones and medical professionals to remotely view and track the measurements using a mobile device or by going online. The glucose monitor is available for sale at select Best Buy stores nationwide, at BestBuy.com and at iHealthlabs.com.

"Our new glucose monitor is an important and highly anticipated addition to our existing line of mobile personal health products. There is a strong relationship between diabetes and heart disease, so measuring, recording and tracking all your vitals from weight and BMI, to blood pressure, to blood glucose levels, is becoming increasingly important," said President of iHealth Lab, Adam Lin. "We are focused on helping individuals lead healthier lives by delivering a full suite of connected mobile health devices that makes it simple for users to take an active role in managing their health and wellness."

According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA)1, which observes American Diabetes Month in November, there are 26 million diabetics in the U.S. today. Of those over 20 years of age, two-thirds have hypertension or report taking medication to lower blood pressure.

How it Works iHealth's Wireless Smart Gluco-Monitoring System makes it easy to measure, track and share blood glucose readings. The highly portable unit is small and easy to carry, hold and use. Measurements are automatically sent and displayed on your smart phone or tablet, eliminating the need to manually track or enter data. Users can track trends over time, set up reminders to take medications and track test strip expiration dates automatically without requiring counting or coding.

As with existing iHealth devices, users will be able to pair the glucose monitor with their mobile device using a free companion app. Data is displayed on the mobile device and automatically stored in the cloud, making it easy to manage and share results.

Availability and Pricing The Wireless Smart-Gluco Monitoring System comes with everything a consumer needs to measure, track and share their blood glucose levels, including 50 test strips. Priced at $79.95, the glucose system is available today at www.ihealthlabs.com. The product is also available at select Best Buy stores and Bestbuy.com as part of the retail chain's effort to be the leading retailer of health and wellness technologies. It will soon be available at a leading national drug retail chain.

The companion iHealth Gluco-Smart App is available for free from the Apple App Store for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and from Google Play for Android devices.
