IDC To Unveil Key Advancements In Digital Radiography (DR) Technology At RSNA 2006

11/28/2006 10:38:11 AM

CALGARY, Nov. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - At the annual Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) meeting in Chicago scheduled for November 26th to 30th, IDC (Imaging Dynamics Company) will introduce i) a new digital radiography system; ii) an expanded imaging technology line-up; and iii) a digital mammography prototype.

New XM Series Digital Radiography System

The new XM Series is the first IDC fixed-table DR system with a single detector. This new system complements the popular X2200 Series dual detector system by providing a more affordable fixed-table option. "The lower cost and greater flexible deployment options of the XM Series will help fuel IDC's aggressive expansion in hospital, emergency room and orthopedic market segments," said Rick Sbordone, IDC Senior Vice President.

Expanded X-Series Detector Line

Also scheduled for launch in 2007 is the new X-Series detector line. By leveraging a unique modular detector design, IDC is positioning the X-Series to offer potential buyers a broad selection of scintillator phosphor and CCD recording technologies. Each model can be custom-configured to provide optimized performance and cost for any clinical application. The X-Series detectors will feature microlenses and new lateral overflow drain (LOD), technology. This new CCD imaging technology greatly increases dynamic range and quantum efficiency, while eliminating the potential for pixel saturation.

Digital Mammography

In order to provide a "first-look" at future applications being developed by IDC, the Company will also be showing a prototype digital mammography system that utilises an optically coupled detector design. This all new design will leverage IDC's proven success formula in general radiography to provide high resolution imaging for this important market segment that is in need of more affordable digital imaging options.

In addition to these three major introductions, IDC will also show a variety of enhancements to existing products including a new mobile table line, touch screen user interface, and fully integrated image combination software for scoliosis and long leg imaging.

"The rapid growth IDC has experienced the past two years positions us to make a strong move into new market segments in 2007," said Darryl Stein, IDC President & CEO. "Our goal is to provide an affordable alternative to inefficient cassette based imaging in all market tiers and these new products will help us take another big step in that direction."

On October 25, 2006 IDC was cited as the "Fastest Growing Medical Imaging Company" in North America by Frost & Sullivan, the principal provider of industry and market intelligence to the medical imaging sector.

About RSNA:

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is an association of more than 39,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists and related scientists committed to promoting excellence in radiology through education and by fostering research, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care. The 92nd annual RSNA meeting, to be held Sunday, Nov. 26 - Friday, Dec. 1 at Chicago's McCormick Place, is expected to draw more than 65,000 attendees from around the world. The RSNA is based in Oak Brook, Ill. (RSNA.org).

About IDC:

IDC is the world leader in providing affordable Digital Radiography (DR) systems and was recently named the fastest growing medical imaging company by Frost & Sullivan. IDC Xplorer and Xaminer Direct Capture technology replaces conventional film based X-ray and provides a cost effective alternative to inefficient cassette based Computed Radiography (CR) systems. The IDC X-Series technology provides the industry's highest resolution radiographic images in the digital format needed for modern Electronic Medical Records networks, without the use of film, chemistry, cassettes or expensive imaging plates. IDC is based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and trades on the TSX under the symbol "IDL" and has approximately 58 million shares outstanding.
