ICON-PLC Wins Clinical Research Team of the Year at the Annual Scrip Awards
ICON won the award for an extremely quick start-up of a large Phase III clinical trial for a promising gynaecological compound in a selective population. ICON selected 109 sites in 15 countries within two weeks of receiving the final protocol and prepared and submitted 133 regulatory and ethics submissions within three months. In parallel, ICON and the sponsor worked on a clinical plan leading to a first site initiation visit within one week of obtaining all necessary approvals. The challenge of the short start-up timelines was overcome by detailed planning during the start-up phase, close collaboration between ICON and the sponsor and detailed knowledge of the regulatory developments and ethics environment in each country.
