HOYA ConBio Launches RevLite with Smart Infinite (SI) Handpiece

FREMONT, Calif., Feb. 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HOYA ConBio, a global leader in aesthetic and dental lasers, today announced the launch of a high-performance RevLite laser, debuting this weekend at the 69th Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in New Orleans (Booth #1133). The new RevLite Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser features a Smart Infinite (SI) handpiece and additional internal upgrades to provide enhanced precision, power and versatility.

"Our engineers continue to honor the company's legacy of developing sophisticated lasers that exceed expectations in the aesthetic community," said Timothy Gehlmann, President and CEO, HOYA ConBio. "The new design elements in the RevLite give practitioners ultimate control in setting laser parameters, resulting in optimal treatment results."

The RevLite SI handpiece will allow practitioners to adjust the spot size in .1 mm increments while maintaining the highest fluence possible. As a result, the SI handpiece enables a virtually limitless spot size range from 2.0 mm to 8.5 mm in the 1064 wavelength, and from 1.2 to 6.0 mm in the 532 wavelength. The micro-adjustments preserve the integrity of the uniform flat-top beam profile and can be used to extend flexibility of the PhotoAcoustic Technology Pulse (PTP) mode, which harnesses up to 60% greater power.

"The RevLite's new SI handpiece offers the ideal trifecta in laser settings -- highest fluence, largest spot size and shortest pulse duration," said Sarah Brice, RN, Director Clinical Services, HOYA ConBio. "Users can achieve deeper penetration of energy into the tissue, which is especially valuable in treating multi-color tattoos and dermal pigment. Above all, the micro-adjustments in spot size at high fluence levels will allow users to achieve faster and more efficient treatments."

The proprietary SI handpiece is "smart" in that it automatically communicates with the laser each time the spot size is adjusted, eliminating the need for manual settings on the laser and minimizing potential for user error. Additional benefits of the RevLite with the SI handpiece include:

  • Faster, more accurate calibrations when settings are altered
  • Active monitoring and adjusting of energy during treatment to ensure consistency and precision for all settings
  • Significant improvement in speed and accuracy in matching pigmented lesion size and tracing tattoo design
  • An aiming beam spot size that matches the treatment beam size in the 532 wavelength
  • The aiming beam intensity, set by the user, automatically maintains a constant brightness as the spot size is changed
  • High Rep Rate MultiLite Dye Handpieces extend the wavelength capabilities of the laser to include 585 nm and 650 nm

Also available for the RevLite is a 532Lite handpiece that can be adjusted to very low fluences at smaller spot sizes, 1.2 mm to 3mm, in .1mm increments. This handpiece is designed to minimize risk of PIH or hypo-pigmentation for treatment of tattoos and dermal pigments on Asian and other skin of color.
