Q. How is racial discrimination defined in the eyes of the law? A. Very briefly, Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act is the federal statute prohibiting discrimination by a defined employer against an individual on the basis of race (and other protected categories) in the workplace. There are other federal, state and local laws with similar prohibitions.
