A new rat study suggests that diets high in saturated fat increase inflammation in the part of the brain that controls hunger, causing it to malfunction, which in turn triggers a domino effect leading to obesity and related metabolic disorders.

Researchers placed groups of rats on diets either high in saturated fat (in the form of lard) or fish oil for six weeks.
