Henry Ford Hospital Announces New President And CEO

DETROIT, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthony Armada, senior vice president and area manager for Kaiser Permanente's Metro Los Angeles Service Area, has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Henry Ford Hospital and Health Network.

In his new role, he will oversee Henry Ford Health System's tertiary care hospital as well as nearly 30 ambulatory health care centers throughout metro Detroit. He begins his new position May 10.

"Tony brings to Henry Ford a wealth of experience in leading tertiary hospitals with missions of education and research, as well as operating primary care and multi-specialty ambulatory centers," said Robert Riney, chief operating officer and senior vice president for Henry Ford.

At Kaiser, Armada is the chief executive of two hospitals, 17 medical offices, multi-provider clinics, an inpatient mental health center, home health agencies, and a Center for Medical Education and Research. The hospitals he leads include the Los Angeles Medical Center, a 460-bed tertiary, academic institution with residency and fellowship programs in 16 specialties. His Los Angeles service area is comprised of 850 staff physicians, 270 affiliated physicians and more than 8,500 employees.

Among his accomplishments at Kaiser are a financial turnaround that resulted in meeting or exceeding operating margin and cost targets for three consecutive years; Kaiser health plan member retention improvements based on enhanced access; an employee satisfaction increase of 12 percent over two years; increased inpatient satisfaction; and oversight and strategic direction for the $640 million re-build of the entire Los Angeles Medical Center and construction of a new patient tower at a sister hospital.

Armada serves on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations and has received awards from the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Kaiser Permanente's Asian Pacific Association Network and The Filipino American Press Club.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in medical technology from Michigan State University in 1982 and received a master's degree in business and health care from Xavier University in Cincinnati in 1988.
