Hennepin County Medical Center Signs 5-Year Prime Distribution Agreement With Medline Industries, Inc.

Medline Industries, Inc. announced today the signing of a cost management prime vendor agreement with Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis, Minn. Medline has been HCMC's prime distributor of medical supplies since 2006. Under the agreement, which takes effect June 1, 2011, Medline will provide its broad array of Medline brand medical and surgical products, including patient care products, disposable protective gowns, exam gloves and bandages.

Medline will drive cost savings to HCMC by delivering Medline manufactured products direct to the healthcare facility through a new local Twin Cities distribution center that is expected to be completed in early 2012. Medline will also deliver cost savings by reducing distribution fees on other national brand products and product standardization.

Medline will be working with HCMC to improve its supply chain and distribution model through enhanced reporting capabilities and comprehensive product utilization, education and practical solutions to help the facility control costs. In addition, Medline will be providing Two-Bin System inventory deployment support and project oversight.

Targeted clinical education will be available to HCMC clinicians through Medline's Pressure Ulcer Prevention Program, which provides tools that have been identified by leading experts to help reduce the incidence of facility-acquired pressure ulcers, and through Medline University, which offers more than 200 free CEU course covering a broad healthcare curriculum such as infection control, incontinence, respiratory care and the legal aspects of nursing and safety.
