Health Canada Release: Information Update - Jamp-Hydrocortisone Cream 1% Recalled Due To Contamination With Bacteria, Yeast And Mould

OTTAWA, March 24, 2016 /CNW/ - Health Canada is informing Canadians that Jamp Pharma has initiated a voluntary recall of its product, Jamp-Hydrocortisone Cream 1% (NPN 80057189) due to microbial contamination with bacteria, yeast and mould.

The contamination may lead to infections or persistence and/or worsening of the existing skin conditions the product is intended to treat. For children and people with weakened immune systems or broken skin, the severity of these adverse effects may be more severe and lead to other symptoms, such as cough, fever and/or gastrointestinal disturbances.

Jamp-Hydrocortisone Cream 1% is used in the temporary relief of itch, minor skin irritations such as dryness, rashes, eczema, insect bites, poison ivy, poison oak, contact dermatitis (e.g. caused by soaps, detergents, cosmetics and/or jewellery), dermatitis and psoriasis.

Consumers should check to see if they purchased Jamp-Hydrocortisone Cream 1% as the product should not be used.

Health Canada is monitoring Jamp Pharma's recall and will inform Canadians if new safety information arises. Consumers should consult their health-care practitioner with any questions or concerns regarding the use of this product.
