Global Cell Solutions Signs Distribution Agreement with VWR International, Inc. for New GEM and Cell Culture Reagents
Under the terms, VWR will distribute GCS’s portfolio of GEM™ magnetic microcarrier products offered with a wide variety of cell adhesion coatings. The magnetic GEM microcarrier is engineered to promote cell adhesion, remain optically clear, and eliminate auto-fluorescent during cellular analysis. Available coatings promote culture of stem cells, cancer cells and numerous primary cells for drug discovery/cell-based screening, clinical applications, neuroscience, and bioproduction.
The microcarrier can be utilized in the BioLevitator, a benchtop cell culture unit co-developed between Hamilton Company (Bonaduz, Switzerland) and GCS. "The agreement significantly expands GCS’s ability to offer the unique features of the GEM microcarrier to meet the growing demands for cell culture and analysis," said Uday Gupta, President & CEO of GCS, “At the International Society for Stem Cell Research annual meeting and exhibition, we were delighted to learn our collaborators and customers were pleased with the ease of sampling and limiting spontaneous differentiation of various stem cells cultured on the GEM.”
