GlaxoSmithKline India Unit to Shut Factory

GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Friday said operations at its factory at Thane in western India have ceased after all workers there accepted a voluntary retirement scheme offered by the company. The relevant applications for closure of the factory are being filed, the Indian unit of GlaxoSmithKline PLC informed stock exchanges. The company didn't give any other details. GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals has two manufacturing units in India, located at Thane and Nashik, also in western India. It also has a clinical development centre in Bangalore.
