GenVault Corporation Appoints David Wellis CEO

CARLSBAD, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 03, 2007 -- GenVault Corporation today announced that David Wellis Ph.D. was appointed as its Chief Executive Officer effective December 14, 2006. Dr. Wellis brings more than 20 years experience in the life sciences and over 10 years experience in product commercialization in genomics. Dr. Wellis has served GenVault as its Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales since December 2004 and its Vice President of Business Development and Marketing since April 2002.

Prior to GenVault, Dr. Wellis served as the Vice President of Functional Genomics of Axon Instruments Inc., which achieved a successful IPO in 2000. Dr. Wellis holds a B.S. in biological sciences from U.C. Irvine, an M.S. and Ph.D. in cell biology from Emory University and received postdoctoral training at Tufts University Medical School and U.C. Berkeley. Additionally, he received business training at the Leavey School of Business, Santa Clara University and U.C. Berkeley.
