Genesis Automation USA Awarded Group Purchasing Contract With Vizient, Inc. To Provide Integrated Supply Chain Management Technology

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Genesis Automation USA, a leading provider of healthcare value-chain solutions which improves patient safety, cuts cost and eliminates waste for healthcare providers, today announced the company was awarded a group purchasing contract with Vizient, Inc.,the largest member-driven healthcare performance improvement company in the U.S.

“Now, more than ever, hospitals are under increasing pressure to deliver better patient care while simultaneously managing costs”

Under the terms of the agreement, Genesis Automation will offer enhanced savings to Vizient members on integrated supply chain management technology to increase traceability of medical supplies, resulting in significant cost reductions, effective device recall execution and increased visibility into procedure costs. Genesis technology has helped hospitals reduce supply costs by more than 20% while increasing patient safety.

In addition to cost cutting and increasing patient safety, hospitals are under pressure to come into compliance with key requirements such as those related to Stage 3 Electronic Health Record (EHR) incentive payments for meaningful use (MU) linked to Universal Device Identifier (UDI) integration into the EHR. With Genesis’ capabilities, Vizient’s members may expedite the implementation of these requirements and maximize the benefits of early adoption.

The company’s automated supply management system tracks medical supplies and devices from hospital entry point through every phase of internal distribution and use within the healthcare setting, with special focus on surgery and cath lab. By connecting vital healthcare data throughout the hospital workflow, Genesis Automation enables providers to access accurate information in real-time for better decision making.

“Now, more than ever, hospitals are under increasing pressure to deliver better patient care while simultaneously managing costs,” said Guillermo Ramas, CEO of Genesis Automation USA. “Healthcare reform has forced healthcare leaders to look for efficiencies in innovative ways. Our integrated supply chain management technology provides the visibility needed to achieve that goal. This collaboration will lead to savings and improved patient care and safety in a multitude of hospitals across Vizient's membership of academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers who access the Vizient contract portfolio. We couldn’t be more excited to see this happen.”
