Genelux Corporation Appoints Catherine J. Mackey, PhD to Board of Directors

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Genelux Corporation, a privately held, clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for cancer and inflammatory diseases, today announced the appointment of Dr. Catherine J. Mackey, long-time Pfizer executive, to the Company's Board of Directors.

Dr. Mackey is the founder and CEO of MindPiece Partners, a management consulting firm, and the former Sr. Vice President of Worldwide Research and Development for Pfizer Inc. She has 28 years of experience in the life science industry.

After receiving her B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in microbiology from Cornell University, Dr. Mackey spent the first part of her career in agricultural biotechnology. She worked her way up from bench scientist to Vice President and head of Research and Development for DEKALB Genetics Corporation. She was member of DEKALB's executive team which sold the company to Monsanto in 1998. Dr. Mackey joined Pfizer in 1999 to lead Genomic and Proteomic Sciences for human health in Groton, CT. Soon she was appointed Vice President and head of Strategic Alliances and in 2001 she was appointed Sr. Vice President of Pfizer Global R&D and Director of Pfizer La Jolla a position she held for nine years. Dr. Mackey built Pfizer La Jolla into a vibrant R&D center of nearly 1000 people focused on the discovery and development of innovative medicines.

Dr. Mackey serves on several boards consistent with her passion for healthcare and innovation.
