Gene Therapy Shows Promise For Cystic Fibrosis

Using an inhaler to deliver a specific gene to the lungs of cystic fibrosis (CF) patients is well tolerated and shows signs of effectiveness, new research indicates. Cystic fibrosis is a hereditary disease involving the lungs that is caused by mutations in a gene called CFTR, short for cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator.
