Fuisz Pharma llc Announces Filing of Patent Application for Improved Ophthalmic Packaging and Administration

MIAMI, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fuisz Pharma llc today announced the filing of a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office of a new system and method to allow a patient to easily and reliably self-administer ophthalmic preparations.

Joseph Fuisz, Managing Member commented: "The use of Ophthalmic preparations is increasing and yet self-administration remains problematic and essentially unchanged. This invention is a simple and ingenious system to accurately place the drops as needed and especially when a person does not have access to a mirror. It is the new way ophthalmic drops will be self administered."

Richard Fuisz M.D. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Fuisz) stated, "The amount of conditions like dry eye are steeply increasing due to age and certain common vision procedures. The current method of self-administration by using a mirror and extending the lower lid works poorly in practice. This invention makes it easy to administer drops anytime and any place without gadgets or add ons to the dropper. It is elegantly simple."

Fuisz Pharma llc is a private pharmaceutical technology company originated by the Fuiszes. The Fuiszes have made substantial contributions in drug delivery including orally dissolving tablets and novel particle coating systems at Fuisz Technologies; inventing and developing thin film drug delivery technologies at Kosmos Pharma and MonoSol Rx, as well as independently developing extruded sheet technology, and have extensive experience working with big and specialty pharma.
