Foresight Science & Technology Wins U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) Contract to Commercialize Biomedical Technology

PROVIDENCE, RI--(Marketwire - June 23, 2010) -

Foresight Science & Technology announced it has been selected as a commercialization support contractor by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). The contract, potentially worth over $2 million, is to support commercialization of technologies funded through the NIH's Small Business Innovation Research Program. Norton Kaplan, Foresight's VP for Operations, stated, "We are happy to have won this competitive procurement both for the renewal of our contract and for the validation it represents of our approach to, abilities for, and track record in commercialization of biomedical technologies." In addition to NIH, Foresight's Life Sciences Group supports other government agencies, universities, and research foundations in the U.S. and abroad.

Amy Spaisman, Director of Foresight's Life Sciences Group, added, "We will have hundreds of NIH technologies to help commercialize under this contract. To make this more efficient we run a free Pipeline Partners Program which provides information feeds on available technologies to interested companies. There is never any cost for a Pipeline Partner, even when you do a deal, so it is a great way to get early access to NIH-funded and other technologies we are helping move to market."
