Fluidigm Corporation TOPAZ(R) System Used to Solve Structure of Plk1 Protein

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fluidigm Corporation has announced that the TOPAZ system has been used during the determination of the structure of the Polo-like Kinase 1 (Plk1), a protein known to play a significant role in the progression of the cell cycle. Increased levels of Plk1 have been associated with many cancers and are a negative prognostic indicator. The determination of the Plk1 structure may enable researchers to develop more effective drug therapies targeted towards the protein’s active site. The research article, entitled "Structure of the Catalytic Domain of Human Polo-like Kinase 1” was published in the May 22, 2007 issue of Biochemistry.
