Fired Executive Assistant Files Lawsuit Against Starkey Hearing Tech, Starkey Fires Back

Thirty-nine year employee Julie Miller, the former executive assistant to fired Starkey president Jerry Ruzicka, filed suit late Wednesday for “long-term services and loyalty bonus” that Miller claims the company owes her. The suit also alleges that Starkey fired her because she is married to Larry Miller, Starkey’s senior vice president for human resources, who was fired the same day. Hers is the fourth lawsuit filed against Starkey since it cut four of its top execs.

In turn, Starkey attorney David Olson on Thursday accused 39-year employee Julie Miller of receiving “hundreds of thousands of dollars in questionable payments to a secret ‘executive’ account.” Olson said the Eden Prairie, MN–based company could offer no other details because of an ongoing federal investigation.
