Endoscopic Therapy May Offer An Alternative To Surgery In Patients With Esophageal Cancer, Mayo Clinic Study
ScienceDaily (Oct. 13, 2008) — Endoscopic therapy is emerging as an alternative to surgery in patients with esophageal cancer given the low likelihood of spread to the lymph nodes. New research presented at the American College of Gastroenterology's 73rd Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando evaluated the long-term efficacy of endoscopic mucosal resection, or EMR, in the treatment of patients with early stage esophageal cancer or Barrett's esophagus.
