Emblation Limited Announces CE Mark for Microwave Therapy System Aimed at Dermatology and Podiatry

11/12/2012 7:55:33 AM

Scotland, UK (PRWEB UK) 12 November 2012 -- Emblation Limited, a global leader in medical microwave technology, has announced that it has received European CE Mark approval for its Swift microwave therapy device.

Swift is a new microwave based treatment system which provides Podiatrists and Dermatologists a fast, simple and precise way of treating skin lesions. With treatment times in seconds, Swift delivers rapid internal heat generation with minimal pain and has been developed using state of the art microwave technology to ensure accurate and precise ablation zones.

The use of microwave technology allows practitioners to treat to a pre-determined depth and guarantees a precise, repeatable procedure. Swift also features an innovative compact design with a generator that weighs just 4kg (9lbs).

Emblation CEO Gary Beale commented: “We’ve overcome a number of challenging hurdles to get to this point – perhaps the two biggest being the size of the microwave generator and the final cost to the practitioner.

Microwave systems have generally been used in the operating theatre for treatment in areas such as oncology, gynaecology, cardiology – up until now equipment has been very large and cumbersome and almost impossible for use in a small clinic. Thanks to our investment in innovation and the use of the very latest technologies available, Swift includes the smallest microwave generator in its class today and is priced at a level which is affordable for the majority of practices in the UK.

For the first time, Podiatrists and Dermatologists can benefit from the exceptional properties of microwave technology – precise, accurate ablations, incredibly quick treatments and the potential for reducing the risk of scarring.”

The Swift microwave therapy system is not available in the United States but Emblation plans to submit an application for U.S. clearance in the near future.
