Eklin Medical Systems, Inc. Promotes Drury to President

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Eklin Medical Systems, a leading provider of digital radiography (DR), ultrasound, PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) and practice management software (VIA(R)) for veterinary care practices, announced the company has promoted James Drury to president. Drury is a long-time executive with more than 25 years of experience and has a proven track record of growing companies into successful larger corporations.

"The company has experienced significant growth since it was founded in 2002," said Gary R. Cantu, CEO and chairman of the board for Eklin. "With a 44 percent revenue increase in 2007 alone, we needed to bring a highly skilled executive onboard who could provide the breadth of expertise that Jim offers to help continue this growth and allow me to focus on longer term strategic activities such as new technology identification, mergers, acquisitions and partnerships. We are pleased to have his leadership capabilities as part of the executive team."

Drury, who previously served as chief financial officer for Eklin, succeeds Cantu as president. He has extensive expertise in software technologies, mergers and acquisitions, raising capital and strategic planning. Prior to Eklin, Drury was the founder of BenefitStreet, a leader and innovator in software for financial services and benefits for over 6,500 corporations. During his tenure at BenefitStreet, the company was featured in the Wall Street Journal, Investment News and several other financial publications. Drury also served as CFO of Stockmaster and held executive positions with Abbott Laboratories and Baxter International. He received his Bachelor of Science from Marquette University and is a certified public accountant.

"Eklin has grown into a major digital practice solutions provider for the veterinary care market," said Drury. "As this market continues to adopt digital technology at a very robust pace, I believe Eklin is well positioned to meet the digital imaging, data management and software needs of veterinary practices. I look forward to further contributing to this ongoing growth."

Eklin provides a number of digital imaging and data management products including DR, ultrasound, PACS and Practice Information Management software for small animal, exotic and equine practices. Employing the Eklin Digital Practice(R) products and services, veterinarians can obtain images in seconds, then store, review and archive the images and other medical records at the touch of a button. This technology also offers sophisticated image processing tools, giving the clinician much greater depth of information that can be enlarged or manipulated for far better detail, resulting in closer scrutiny of potential areas of concern.

All of Eklin's digital technologies are built on published DICOM standards, the medical industry's digital imaging and storage protocols. This allows practices to select products from multiple vendors which follow the same open standard and be able to seamlessly integrate these other digital systems within the practice.

"As veterinarians transition to a digital practice, we believe our open standard Eklin Digital Practice solutions will provide both better workflow efficiencies and enhanced clinical outcomes," said Cantu. "Jim and the rest of the Eklin team will offer vital assistance in helping us to better serve our customers by providing these practices the gold standard in digital imaging as well as data and business management technology."
