Dr. Alfred Hackenberger Elected To The Supervisory Board Of Axaron Bioscience AG

Heidelberg, Germany, April 25th, 2005 - Since March 2005, Dr. Alfred Hackenberger, President of the Competence Center Specialty Chemicals Research at BASF AG, has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of Axaron Bioscience AG. As agreed, he is succeeding Prof. Dr. Hans-J├╝rgen Quadbeck-Seeger, lastly a member of the Executive Board of BASF AG. Dr. Hackenberger has been with BASF since 1981. As a PhD in chemistry, he started his career with the Chemical Group in the Colourants laboratory. In the following years he gained experience as Sales Manager ED (Dispersions) and head of the Chemicals Division of BASF AG in Brazil. In 1996 he became head of the sub-department responsible for marketing carboxyl and colourant intermediates. Two years later, Dr. Hackenberger was appointed head of Research Fine Chemicals, and in 2001 he became Group Vice President of the Regional Business Unit Fine Chemicals Asia-Pacific based in Hong Kong. Since 2004 Dr. Hackenberger has been President of the Competence Center Specialty Chemicals Research. Furthermore Chairman Friedrich Christ, Senior Vice President of BASF AG, and Prof. Michael Kramer, General Manager of Lynx GmbH, are still associated with the Supervisory Board of Axaron Bioscience AG.
