Despite Recent Layoffs, Volcano Operations Will Still Continue in Rancho Cordova

Philips subsidiary Volcano Corp. will still have about 250 employees in the region after it stops its manufacturing operations in Rancho Cordova in February.

A spokesman from Koninklijke Philips NV (NYSE: PHG) said the Rancho Cordova site will continue to have employees in design, engineering, customer support and services operations.

Volcano on Dec. 4 notified state employment officials it plans to cut about 60 manufacturing employees locally by early February. But “we are going to continue other operations at that location,” said Mario Fante, spokesman with Philips in Andover, Mass.
