DDL, Inc. & Cryopak Announce the Date of their Fall Package Testing and Cold Chain Seminar and Interactive Workshops

Edison, NJ - August 4, 2011 -- DDL, the leader in medical device package, product and material testing and Cryopak, leader in cold chain packaging have confirmed the date of their fall Seminar and Interactive Workshops for Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11 and 12, 2011 at their Edison, NJ location. The two day program will cover topics such as distribution simulation testing and thermal transportation package design.

The first day of our fall seminar will focus on package testing and will include presentations on Distribution Simulation by DDL's Packaging Engineer, Peter Johnson and Test Method Validation by our Director of Operations, Corey Hensel. Al Gale, DDL's Product and Material Engineer will also be presenting on Materials Used in Your Sterile Barrier System for Shelf-Life Products.

The second day of our seminar will focus on cold chain packaging. Cryopak's Cold Chain presentations and interactive workshops will be lead by Cryopak's Technical Service Manager, Anthony Alleva. The presentation, titled Thermal Transportation Package Design and Use of Thermal Modeling Software, will focus on the following points;

- Steps to consider when developing a protocol

- How thermal modeling is used in transport packaging design work

- The effects of engineered phase change materials in package design

- Review the tradeoffs and considerations to select or develop a temperature profile

- Use of insulating materials in package design

"This is the first joint seminar/workshop that we've facilitated as a team," Bill Hingle, Marketing Director for TCP Reliable, said.

The seminar and interactive workshops are intended for medical device packaging engineers, pharmaceutical professionals, supply chain managers, product engineers, and quality professionals.

Another major component of DDL's seminar on package testing will be the interactive workshops lead by DDL's project managers.

"We're excited about the opportunity to give our guests firsthand experience on the integrity testing processes that take place during test method validation," DDL's Operations Director, Corey Hensel, said.

The workshops will include demonstrations of;

- ASTM F88 - Peel Seal Testing

- ASTM F2096 - Bubble Leak Testing

- ASTM F1929 - Dye Leak Testing

- ASTM F1886 - Visual Inspection Testing

The seminar will also include a cold chain packaging workshop in which attendees will get to participate in the assembly of a cold chain pack out as well as gain an understanding how the package is readied for testing.

"The goal is for participants to gain an understanding of the process used for thermal performance testing," Hingle, said.

During day two, Alleva will expand on the activity by reviewing the performance data generated.

"We are very excited to open our doors at our Edison, NJ laboratory and manufacturing facility and give attendees an opportunity to expand their knowledge on package validation along with the cold chain manufacturing and thermal design side of our business," Maurice Barakat, President of TCP Reliable, said

The seminar, which is scheduled for October 11-12, 2011, will be held at our east coast location in Edison, NJ.
