Datatrial Announces Dr. Emma Banks as New Chief Executive Officer
In more than a decade with the company, Black played an integral role in helping Datatrial progress from a startup into a respectable, profitable business. With the organisation on firm footing and demonstrating consistent success, he elected to concentrate on his role on the board of directors.
“The time is right for Datatrial to move into the future with an industry specialist leading the way,” Black said. “The board views this as part of the natural progression of the company, and we have the utmost confidence that, thanks to her profile on the biopharma landscape, Emma is the ideal person to lead Datatrial to even greater heights.”
Dr. Banks has been a regular speaker at key industry trade shows in recent years, and her eight years at Datatrial have given her a keen feel for the values and goals of the company. With an extensive background in research, data management, business development and operations, she is uniquely qualified to lend industry insights to the role of CEO.

With Black maintaining a presence on the board of directors, the composition of the board will remain intact. Chief financial officer David Walton and non-executive chairman David Stonehouse, who will both be essential in supporting these changes, remain as members of the board along with Dr. Banks and Black. Over the next few weeks, the board will collaborate exensively to ensure a smooth succession plan both internally and externally.
