Data Carries More Weight With Science Adherents, Cornell University Study Finds

The more people believe in science, the more gullible they may be — at least in one respect. New studies from Cornell University researchers found people were more likely to believe a medication was effective when presented with graphs alongside descriptions of the medication. That held true even though the graphs repeated information they had already read. The more a participant said he or she believed in science, the more that person, after seeing graphs, believed in the medication’s efficacy.
