Cumberland Pharmaceuticals Lays Off One-Third of Sales Force

Nashville-based Cumberland Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: CPIX) laid off one-third of its salesforce Thursday, according to a filing late Friday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The company’s sales personnel dropped from 95 to 64 following a decision “to more efficiently cover key targets in support of its three marketed products, Caldolor, Acetadote and Kristalose in the United States,” according to the filing. The company faces between $500,000 and $750,000 in one-time expenses related to the layoffs. The company does not expect to make further cutbacks to its sales team.
