Cresset Group Announces a Major New Academic Access Program with Software Bursaries and Free Academic Training Licences

Welwyn Garden City (23rd March 2011) - Cresset is delighted to announce the launch of its major new access program for academic users of its range of chemistry software tools at the American Chemical Society (ACS) show in Anaheim from March 27-31, at booth 664. This program provides academic users with a range of ways to access Cresset’s products, including a software bursary program, free training licences for academic courses as well as low cost academic group licences and free downloads for some of Cresset’s products.

Rob Scoffin, CEO of Cresset said, “We have created a range of free or low-cost licensing options to help academic researchers, teachers and students to use the very best chemistry software available. These programs are designed to support bona fide students and academics in their internal research and teaching use.”

Cresset’s Academic Access program will offer the following options to academic researchers, educators and students:

Software Bursaries - Cresset will offer free one year named user licenses for its desktop products (FieldStere, FieldAlign and FieldTemplater) to any post-graduate, PhD and post-doc students enrolled in a degree course. Students can apply to Cresset with a description of the project and the intended use of the software. Free licenses will include upgrades but not technical support. The licenses can be renewed while the student remains enrolled in a degree program.

Free Training Licenses - Short-term free licenses for Cresset tools may be available for University course training and teaching purposes. Cresset also offers site licenses for academic training centres and can provide free tutorial materials to support the use of the software in a training/teaching environment.

Academic Group Licenses - A low-cost one year license for Cresset products for academic teams of up to 5 members of the same lab group. Academic Group licenses can be managed and updated centrally and are supplied with maintenance and technical support.

Free Downloads - The free powerful molecular editor, visualizer and SAR analysis package FieldView can be downloaded from www.cresset-group.com/fieldview

These programs will be formally launched at the American Chemical Society (ACS) show in Anaheim from March 27-31 and anyone wishing to apply can visit booth 664 or for further information on Cresset’s Academic Access program, please visit www.cresset-group.com/academicaccess

About Cresset Group Ltd

Cresset develops software for calculating and comparing the molecular Field characteristics of chemical compounds. Field technology uses the surface properties of molecules to evaluate their activities and properties, rather than relying on 2D structure similarity, which enables Cresset’s users to find more interesting, novel and relevant results than other methods. Cresset’s Fields provide a smarter, structure independent way of hit-finding, lead switching and lead optimization in drug discovery and other chemistry-based research projects. Cresset’s Field technologies have been successfully applied to a very wide range of target classes, with and without structural information, on over 100 projects for major pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. www.cresset-group.com
