Conatus Pharma Appoints Jean L. Chan As Vice President, Clinical Development

SAN DIEGO, June 8, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Conatus Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq:CNAT), a biotechnology company focused on the development and commercialization of novel medicines to treat liver disease, today announced the appointment of Jean L. Chan, M.D., as Vice President, Clinical Development, reporting to David T. Hagerty, M.D., Executive Vice President, Clinical Development.

Dr. Chan has been Director, Global Clinical Research - CV/Metabolics, at Bristol-Myers Squibb since 2013, and was Medical Director, Medical Research & Development, at Amylin Pharmaceuticals from 2008 until its acquisition by Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2012. Dr. Chan was the lead clinician for the clinical development of metreleptin (MYALEPTâ„¢), including the analysis of the registrational studies, BLA filing strategy, and presentation at the FDA Advisory Committee meeting. She previously served in a series of academic appointments at Harvard Medical School, beginning as a Clinical Fellow in Medicine in 1997 and ending as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2008. She held concurrent hospital appointments at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a Research Associate from 2003 to 2004 and as a Staff Physician from 2004 to 2008, while serving as Attending Physician for the Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Clinic and for the Inpatient Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Service. Dr. Chan received a M.M.S. in Clinical Investigation from Harvard Medical School, an M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, an M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. She is Board Certified in internal medicine, and endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
