China Week In Review: Simcere Pharma Files for American IPO

March 25, 2007 – Simcere Pharma, which makes generic drugs for the Chinese market, filed for an IPO in the US that could raise up to $120 million; Charles River Labs will establish a presence in China by forming a joint venture with Shanghai BioExplorer; Nutra Pharma signed a letter of intent to create a joint venture that will develop an HIV drug currently in Phase II trials for China; AstraZeneca will build a research facility in Shanghai to develop cancer products for Chinese patients; and Brenda Pharma added two new members to its Board of Directors.
