Centient Investor Release: Biggest Biotech Winners And Losers During Q3

During the third quarter of 2004, only one company posted gains in excess of 100%: NitroMed (NTMD) with a spectacular rise of 291% during the three-month period. The other big gainers for the quarter were Rigel (RIGL) at 78%, AtheroGenix (AGIX) at 73% and Avanir (AVN) at 69%. Third Wave (TWTI) and Caliper (CALP) each gained slightly more than 50%. The biggest losers in Q3 were Maxim (MAXM) at 71% and Valentis (VLTS) at 62%. Exact (EXAS), Ciphergen (CIPH), and Immunomedics (IMMU) follow, all at a 47% loss. Nanogen (NGEN), Genetronics (GEB), Ligand (LGND) and Novavax (NVAX) each dropped around 45% of their value.
