Cellular Research Inc. Introduces Whole Transcriptome Single Cell Precise Assays

Palo Alto, Calif., USA – July 29, 2015 – Cellular Research, Inc., today announced an early access program for its new Whole Transcriptome Single Cell Precise™ Assays, which enable absolute and direct molecular counting of the entire transcriptome from single cells without any specialized equipment or training.

“Recent technological advances have enabled the analysis of gene expression at the single cell level,” according to John Ngai, the Coates Family Professor of Neuroscience and Director of the QB3 Functional Genomics Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley. “These capabilities allow researchers to probe the complexity of biological systems at unprecedented levels of detail and have broad applications in the biological and biomedical sciences.”

Whole Transcriptome Single Cell Precise Assays are unique because they are the first commercial RNA-seq assay to enable 1,000s of cells to be sequenced per run and at a cost far lower than existing alternatives. In addition, no expensive dedicated laboratory equipment is needed to run the assays, and the sequencing library is compatible with any Illumina sequencer.

“Precise assays enable users to see the true heterogeneity within their samples by directly counting the number of each transcript expressed by each individual cell,” said Martin Pieprzyk, Director of Strategic Marketing for Cellular Research. “Researchers can first use our Whole Transcriptome Precise Assays as a discovery tool, and then transition to our Targeted Single Cell or Targeted mRNA Precise Assays to validate specific genes and pathways of interest at the highest throughput and lowest cost possible.”

Based on Cellular Research’s patented Molecular Indexing™ technology, the Precise assays offer absolute quantization and bias-free expression information. The assays allow the examination of large numbers of standard or low-input mRNA samples from precious samples, or whenever absolute quantitation is required. The Precise assays combine molecular and sample indexing in 96- and 384-sample formats, enabling customers to sequence up to 4,608 samples on one sequencing run without investment in new equipment or extensive training.
