CARMAT SA (FR0010907956, ALCAR), the designer and developer of the world's most advanced
total artificial heart, announced that results of a study on “In vitro Haemocompatibility of a Novel
Bioprosthetic Total Artificial Heart” will be presented at the 25th Annual Meeting of the European
Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery in Lisbon (Portugal).
The presentation will take place on Tuesday October 4th at 9.45 (abstract ID 4509) as part of a
moderated abstract session on Assist Devices (Assist Devices I). Dr Piet Jansen, Chief Medical Officer
with Carmat, will present the results.
The study assessed in-vitro haemocompatibility of the bioprosthetic blood-contacting surfaces of
the Carmat Total Artificial Heart (TAH) by exposing them in closed circuits to human blood under
