CapsuleTech Inc. Presents Leading Vendor Neutral, Open Architecture Connectivity Solution at Their Booth and at the IHE Interoperability Showcase and RFID & RTLS Showcase at HIMSS11

ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwire - February 16, 2011) -

Capsule, the leading provider of medical device connectivity, today announced that it will be demonstrating its solutions at IHE, the RFID & RTLS Showcase and at their booth during this year's HIMSS conference, February 20-24, 2011.

As the leading provider of vendor neutral, open architecture device connectivity solutions Capsule has been participating in HIMSS and the IHE Interoperability Showcase for years. In fact, Capsule has been participating in IHE for the past four years, demonstrating their continued support and commitment to Device Connectivity Standards and Open Architectures. In addition this year, Capsule is a diamond level sponsor and will be demonstrating their solution at the new RFID & RTLS Showcase, further proving their position in the market as the device connectivity leader.

The first stop in Capsule's journey to HIMSS took place at this year's IHE 2011 Connectathon, held in January 2011 in Chicago. The IHE Connectathon is designed to validate interoperability with patient care devices and EMR vendors using a series of structured tests to verify conformance to the IHE Patient Care Devices (PCD) profiles. These standards based profiles are designed to ensure reliable interoperability between supporting systems without vendor-specific customization. Successful completion of the tests is required in order for vendors to participate in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS.

For the fourth consecutive year, Capsule is proud to announce that they successfully tested their Enterprise Device Connectivity Solution with participating patient-care device and EMR vendors at the IHE Connectathon. This continued success further demonstrates Capsule's proven interoperability with the widest range of IHE PCD conforming devices and EMR and Alarm notification system vendors.

Capsule will also be demonstrating the patient centric, workflow focused part of their solution at this year's new RFID & RTLS Showcase; a solution that delivers a variety of options for achieving positive patient association designed to fit the way the hospital works and the way the clinician works. In the RFID & RTLS Showcase visitors will be able to see first-hand, in a patient care setting, how Capsule uses passive RFID with the Capsule Neuron™ platform as an alternative method for achieving positive patient association at the bedside in order to create an optimized clinical workflow. The use of such technology is particularly important in higher acuity areas where patients are connected to multiple medical devices that need to be positively associated and disassociated to the patient in real time and at the bedside. By using passive RFID, Capsule's revolutionary design creates an auto-sensing area around the patient to enable nurse prompted workflows that improve the patient care environment as a whole and ensure the delivery of medical device and proximity data to consuming applications such as EMRs, alarm management systems, and RTLS systems with device, location, and patient identities positively associated. This live demonstration will show step by step why the method for achieving patient centricity is key to ensuring adoption of the technology by clinical staff and why hospitals really need to consider whether a technology design fits the way the hospital works and the way the clinician works.
