California Device Startup, Minerva Surgical Raises $20 Million

California device startup and women’s health firmMinerva Surgical has recently raised $20 million, according to a regulatory filing. The Cupertino-based company has developed an endometrial ablation system utilizing RF Argon Plasma Energy contained in a balloon to treatheavy menstrual bleeding. Based on a search of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Edgar database, the company has been steadily raising money since 2008 and has raised more than $55 million. David M. Clapper, a 16-year veteran of Johnson & Johnson, is Minerva Surgical’s CEO.
