Box Scientific Launches First Universal Thawing Platform for the Life Sciences

March 31, 2011 – San Jose, California Box Scientific officially launches the Station One thaw station, and all-in-one reagent thawing platform targeted to the life sciences. The Station One thaws frozen reagents and samples in a fraction of the time using only ambient air. This fixed platform enables high throughput sample thawing that is repeatable, proceduralizable, and safe for even the most delicate samples and reagents. Utilizing the basic principles of convection the Station One channels air from its surroundings air through a perforated thawing tray where it circulates over and around samples. This constant flow of ambient temperature air optimizes the natural enthalpic processes that drive equilibrium. The result is up to a 75% decrease in sample and reagent thawing times without any application of heat. The Station One’s thawing surface can accommodate up to two microplates, 24 15ml tubes, or 52 2ml sample tubes at a time when equipped with included accessory racks. The Station One unit has a compact footprint and consumes minimal power.
