Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation to Build $65 Million US Research Facility

Boehringer Ingelheim is adding $100 million worth of roots. The multinational pharmaceutical company broke ground Monday on its $65 million, 72,000-square-foot research and development facility at its campus on the Ridgefield-Danbury border. The work is coming only a few months after Boehringer began construction on a new $42.5 million safety assessment building. That speaks to the company's commitment to the region, officials said. "A lot of companies today are outsourcing this work to India and China,'' Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton said after Monday's ceremony. "What this is saying is that they aren't going anywhere.''
