Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation Sketches Out $382 Million Expansion Plan

The economy may be sputtering but Boehringer Ingelheim's expansion plans appear to be moving smoothly forward, with an application for two new projects now before the Planning and Zoning Commission. "It is one of the bright spots in an otherwise cloudy sky for economic development, and Ridgefield is fortunate to be that bright spot — at least in the state of Connecticut," First Selectman Rudy Marconi said. The new projects are part of $382 million expansion plan the pharmaceutical firm laid before voters in 2007, when a town meeting approved 85% tax abatement on the value of new buildings for seven years from the date they're occupied.
